Manitowoc Reunion Schedule of Events

 

THURSDAY 30 MAY 2019

Everyone arrive at the Holiday Inn in Manitowoc Wi.  Pls. ensure you have made your reservation for USS Tigrone reunion with the hotel.  I will validate all the names that I have and put out an e-mail at a later date.

 

FRIDAY 31 MAY 2019

                0630- 0930 Breakfast at the Holiday Inn Breakfast Buffet, in the dining room

                1000- 1230 Board bus for the Manitowoc County Heritage Tour narrated by Rosie the Riveter & a visit to the Rodgers Street Fishing Village.

                Afternoon free to tell Sea Stories, shop, nap, whatever.   Hospitality Suite will be open

 

                1715-2030  Board bus for trip to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and USS COBIA (SS-245).  We will also have a couple of hours to re-acquaint                           ourselves with each other during a time of heavy hors d’ oeuvres and bar with beer, wine, and soft drinks.  The USS Cobia is a Gato Class submarine,                   commissioned 28 Nov. 1943, and will be open exclusively for the USS TIGRONE crew and their guests from 1730 – 1930 with a couple of engine                           starts for those of you that can’t remember that diesel smell, or those of you that have never had the golden opportunity to.  There is a group currently                 scheduled to go onboard for a sleep over and teaching experience provided by those shipmates that continue to do the necessary maintenance for USS                 COBIA.  We will have to be off the boat by around 1930 to accommodate this class.  But the social hour will still be going on in the Museum event hall.

 

SATURDAY 1 JUNE 2019

                0630-0930 Breakfast at the Holiday Inn Breakfast Buffet, in the dining room

                0930-1230 Abler Art Glass & Henning’s Cheese Store & Museum (page 34 & 35 of the Manitowoc/Two Rivers Visitors Guide).  We’ve requested a                         Glass Blowing demonstration and tour of the facility for Abler Art, and Henning’s Cheese Store and Museum will offer a chance to purchase famed                       Wisconsin cheese (almost as good as Vermont) at less than grocery store prices. 

            

                1315- 1600 SS BADGER SHORLINE CRUISE

                A cruise on Lake Michigan onboard SS Badger with a themed cruise, entertainment, and refreshments.  A chance for those of you who really loved                       getting underway to do it again, without a Maneuvering Watch.  The cost per person for the SS Badger is $50.00, the reunion fund will offset the cost                   per person by $25.00, the individual will be responsible for the remaining $25.00.  If you have not contacted John Murray, and want to do the SS                         Badger Cruise, then please contact me via e-mail, test, or call (757-573-1695)  This tour is a limited offer, and only happens a 3 times each year.

 

               NOTE:  THE UNDERWAY WITH REFRESHMENTS AND ENTERTAINMENT ONBOARD SS BADGER IS $50.00 PER PERSON.  THE TIGRONE                      REUNION FUND WILL PAY HALF OF EVERYONE’S TICKET.  PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS e-mail IF YOU PLAN ON DOING THE SS BADGER                      CRUISE AND HOW MANY.  THE TICKETS HAVE TO BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE AS THE SHORLINE CRUISE IS A POPULAR ATTRACTION                  FOR THIS AREA AND AS FAR AWAY AS CHICAGO.

               1830 - ???? USS TIGRONE BANQUET – HOLIDAY INN MANITOWOC

               Sit down dinner, starts at 1900m desert, coffee and Adult Beverages (Beer, Wine, Soft drinks) following.  Auction, another opportunity for Mule to                        outbid his wife on something that neither can live without.

SUNDAY 2 JUNE 2019

               0630 – 0930  Breakfast at the Holiday Inn Breakfast Buffet, in the dining room.  Set the Maneuvering Watch all hands underway ?????

THE HOSPITALITY SUITE WILL BE OPEN WITH COFFEE, BEER, WINE, SOFT DRINKS, WATER AND SNACKS EVERY DAY.  TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO CATCHUP ON THE 44 YEARS IT'S BEEN SINCE SOME OF US SAW ONE ANOTHER.  FOR THE MARRIED GUYS, DON'T FORGET TO INTRODUCE YOUR WIFE OR GIRLFRIEND TO THE CREW AND OUR WIVES.  SOME OF OUR CREW HAVE WIVES THAT WE HAVE NOT MET, ENSURE YOU INTRODUCE YOUR WIFE OR GIRLFRIEND TO OTHERS.  THE TIGER-ONE CREW IS FAMILY AND THE REUNION IS FOR FAMILY, NOT JUST TIGRONE SAILORS.
